Update 03/20/20 - Now considering trades of equal value. Due to the world being disrupted, I think many of us realize buying/selling horses might slow down. However, we'd be searching after we sold Gunner for another horse to fit our needs better, so we are open to discussing. We are only selling Gunner because we want something older that kids and beginners can handle on the ground, and ride out on the trails. Must be over 15 hands, will consider gaited and non-gaited. Gunner needs more miles before he's ready to pack kids all day, so he'd be great for a teenager/adult who is ready to do some serious riding!
AVAILABLE: Gunner is ready for his next adventure. Whether it be on long trail rides, or at the local show ring!
Gunner was shown in 4H where he want in classes such as Showmanship, Halter, Equitation and Pleasure. He went to the OH state fair two years in a row and was in the ribbons, with only a very lightly weighted shoe. His show experience gave him a great base for manners, and solid training, with a park out on command!
Gunner really shines on the trails. He has an absolutely stunning gait that's smooth as silk and consistent. He crosses bridges, mud, water, goes over logs, and won't shy away when you ask him to move forward. Neck reins beautifully and moves off pressure easily. He is comfortable at any spot in the line, leading, middle or end.
Gunner is UTD on vaccines and has a fresh coggins. He loads right in the trailer, stands wonderfully for the farrier and vet, clips, bathes, and patiently waits while you groom or tack up. He spent 45 days at a trainers (Hanson Horses) for a tune up last June where had tarps put all over him, walked through all sorts of obstacles, learned to line up with the mounting block, spent even more hours out on the trail, and even did some cow sorting!
The thing I really love about this horse is his work ethic. As soon as you get on him, he's all business. Willing is an understatement, this horse will try to do anything you ask. He LOVES having a job.
While Gunner is great for adults, he'll need some more miles before he's ready for small kids or timid/nervous riders. He is fine for adults on the ground, but can be pushy with a small/timid handler, so I am not recommending him for a beginner beginner. He would be great for a teen, or advanced beginner adult who knows their way around a horse. Gunner gets excited when he hears the grain being poured, and will paw. This is really the only thing I can fault him on.
He is incredibly sweet, loves attention, and takes care of his rider. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body, and has never shown aggression. He will follow you around the arena and loves to be loved on. The trainer he went to said he was the nicest, most well-trained gaited horse she has had in her barn. When my husband took some lessons last fall with another local trainer, she said the same thing. He is as nice as
