Katama is a 2010, 16.0 hand RPSI mare who is sweet, friendly, and willing to try anything a sport horse rider might be interested in doing! This beloved mare has been a solid citizen for her 95-year-old owner but is sadly needing to find a new partner. Kat has solid dressage basics but is showing great aptitude and enthusiasm in the hunter ring. Kat is currently schooling 1st and 2nd level dressage movements with a professional dressage trainer. She scored 73-76% in her Intro C and Training Level Test 1 classes at a big, busy USEF/USDF recognized show in August 2022 and she handled the show weekend like a pro!

In the hunter ring, Kat is forward and willing to do the job. She is easy and comfortable to find the jumps on, but she may need some finishing touches with a professional. Kat has a lead change and is going to be a very solid citizen in the hunter ring. Kat is currently being ridden once a week by a professional hunter/jumper trainer.

Kat is a barn favorite and is easy to handle around the stable. She ties, crossties, clips, bathes, and stands quietly for the vet and farrier. She lunges politely with or without side reins and she also enjoys free lunging in a round pen. Kat is good for loading, travels quietly and is easy to handle off property. Kat hacks out alone or with others and is confident crossing bridges, going through water, and dealing with random distractions such as dogs, bikes, strollers, etc. Kat is up to date on deworming, vaccinations, and dental care. In full disclosure, Kat requires minor orthopedic maintenance that is line with her age and level of work. Kat has not needed shoes and does very well barefoot.

While Kat is safe and does not buck, bolt, or rear, she is not a beginner’s mount due to her forward thinking gaits. She would be a fantastic “step-up” horse for an intermediate rider who is looking for a versatile sporthorse that has experience with a variety of activities! Kat also loves to interact and commune with her people. She likes to be primped and enjoys any and all attention.
