Once-in-a-lifetime horse available! Ms Perigee Moon, aka, “Moonshine,” is a gorgeous 15.1hh 2011 AQHA mare with versatile riding skills, phenomenal bloodlines, experience with top trainers, and a heart-of-gold personality. The sky is the limit with Moonshine. Just this week, she began learning half-steps (piaffe work) in hand. She has a strong foundation in western dressage and is as athletic, responsive, and light in the bridle as they come. Moonshine knows the sidepass, pivot, and turn-on-the-forehand, and she is beginning to school leg yield, shoulder-in, counter canter, and haunches-in. I am constantly blown away by Moonshine’s ability to advance in her training and learn new maneuvers; at the same time, she is super push-button and great with beginners of all ages. Moonshine has really nice, uphill gaits and the ability to sit on her hindquarters. She would be equally suited for a petite amateur in a program with dreams of getting her USDF bronze medal in dressage down the road, or an ambitious kid or teenager who wants to try their hand at 4-H or open shows or take her on the barrels and poles. Even ranch riding and reining wouldn’t be out of the question once she has a flying change. (And yes, a flying change is in the works but not confirmed yet.) She will take a curb or a snaffle and even rides bridleless in just a neck rope, and she is responsive to the seat and legs. Moonshine trail rides by herself or with other horses, and she has been to clinics with world-class trainers, including Dan James (trick-training/groundwork), Sylvia Zerbini (liberty) and Mark Rashid (western riding.) Moonshine has received desensitization training and has even worked at liberty with music from a PA sound system and flashing concert lights at the Dancing Horses Theater. She is very adaptable to new environments and experienced with trailering and hauling to different places, including long distances. Moonshine has excellent ground manners. She has significant liberty training and has learned tricks that include the bow, laydown, pivot, sidepass, and liberty circle. (This could definitely translate into showmanship!) Moonshine also ground ties and stands quietly for tacking up, mounting, bathing, and the farrier. She is easy to load in a trailer and gentle enough that her owner has been able to learn how to trim her hooves herself. Yes, she is barefoot, sound, and never injected or required maintenance. This is the sort of horse who can really take your horsemanship to the next level. In addition to being soft to ride, safe, and easy to learn on, Moonshine comes from incredible bloodlines – Bully Bullion, First Down Dash, Corona Cartel, Corona Chick, and other money earners are all on her papers. She is a great broodmare, though she is currently open for 2023 and has a complimentary breeding contract available to the Future Fortunes stallion, Igotyourtac!
