Driftwoods Trouble, AKA “Beau” is a 2014 AQHA buckskin gelding. Standing 15hh, weighing 1350 lbs, Beau is built to last and look good doing it! *his mane was cut off due to damage, it doesn’t grow in this short* Beau is stout and well muscled. He’s short backed and drives under himself under saddle. Beau is about as athletic as they come and can stop and turn on a dime. Beau has primarily been trail ridden/used as a trail guide horse but has a decent handle in the arena as well. He will walk, jog, trot, and lope with ease. Knows his leads, and while he doesn’t have a flying lead change that is only because teaching him one wasn’t a priority as a trail horse. Sidepass and will open a gate. He has had ropes thrown off him and dragged various objects. He’s also been extensively exposed to sheep, cows, pigs, dogs and farm equipment. He has excellent hip and shoulder control and will turn smoothly on the forehand or hindquarters. Beau is soft in the face and prefers a rider who is soft handed and able to use their body effectively. He responds very well to seat and leg cues and can be ridden almost exclusively with your lower body. He has been ridden by a wide range of riders with varying skill levels and done well, but he needs at least intermediate handler. He has in the past displayed some buddy/barn sour tendencies. Beau shows great performance potential, he’s gritty and doesn’t have any quit. He would likely excel at roping, barrel racing, working cattle, ranch riding, gymkhana, cowboy dressage or even working equitation. He has excellent ground manners, leads, loads, lunges, crossties or straight ties, yields his shoulders and hindquarters, beautiful back up. Great for the farrier, good to clip, bathe, saddle and bridle. Good for the vet, injections, oral meds, etc. Beau is typically the middle man in the herd and gets along with everybody. He’s been turned out with mares and geldings, as well as kept in a stall with no vices. Beau is an easy easy keeper and stays fat on air (he has been tested and is not insulin resistant or sensitive to sugar). He is UTD on vaccines, worming and dental work. Currently only shod on the front. Beau has had some back pain in the past due to some issues with hind shoe fit. He has been fine since shoes have been pulled but he does get routine chiropractic care + equioxx tablets to help manage any reoccurrences. Hock X-rays and vet records available to seriously interested parties.
