Here’s a rare opportunity to own a well trained branded Kiger Mustang who was raised in the wild. Kiger Coltrane ran wild until he was 6 when he was rounded up from the Kiger HMA and adopted out. He was low on the pecking order in the wild, he was a bachelor and naturally a less dominant and more timid personality, which was very helpful for gentling and training him. He has never acted studly with either humans or other horses. He is a very kind soul who wants to please. He wants to get along with others and to be accepted. He is not a fighter. He is as gorgeous as can be. Built stout with clearly a bit of draft influence at some point, this boy is a tank. He has lovely smooth gaits. He is naturally vertical, balanced and correct. His trot feels like he has wheels—it is very easy to sit. He has great brakes. He is extremely sensitive to cue and extremely sensitive in general. He can feel your thoughts and emotions before you do. every movement made on him is significant, although he has learned to stand and not react to stimulus as asked. But he notices and feels everything—he is horse that will notice if you change cinches! He works on a very light feel. You shift your weight or turn your head and he is right there with you. He is well seasoned as a trail horse. He goes out alone on in groups. He can lead or follow. He will cross water (he loves water), bridges, obstacles. He was initially made to be a trail horse for an older grandmother—so the emphasis was making him safe safe safe. He has gone through extensive desensitization and exposure training, where the emphasis was teaching him to hold his ground no matter what stimulus might occur. He does great with obstacles. He has had ropes thrown off of him but has never worked cattle. Easy to trailer—self loads and can self load from impressive distances (see his videos). Hauls well. Can stand tied for hours. Good for baths, good for grooming. Easy to catch from any setting. Very good manners. Good for trims. He is friendly, kind and a lover. He loves attention. He would make an absolutely stunning exhibition horse for liberty performance. He is incredibly easy to pattern—which can be both a benefit and a challenge for training. It’s very easy to create liberty routines with him. He also would make a fabulous Working Equitation horse. He already has done most of the obstacles at a walk. He has the responsiveness and tune-ability and train ability to do great with western dressage. He has been started in Garrocha work. He has been introduced to carrying a flag. He is UTD on his care. He has very good, very hard mustang feet that should never need shoes. Due to his sensitivity, we will only sell him to someone with either Kiger Mustang experience or experience with Lusitanos/Andalusians/Iberian breeds.
